What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
I was in the top 100 Rugby Union referees and referred at Newlands in Cape Town

Paul is passionate about helping businesses to grow and the use of technology. Having set up two accountancy practices over the years he is fully aware of the demands of starting a business. Paul was keen to move away from the traditional accounting approach and develop the emerging online model of accounting and 1 Accounts Online Ltd was born from this. As 1 Accounts Online Ltd has gone from strength-to-strength Paul has been acknowledged as a “thought leader” for online accounting. He has had the opportunity to speak at a Sage Summit in New Orleans and at events in Dublin, Barcelona, Madrid, and London. Paul is licenced by the AAT to operate a practice and in 2017 was awarded highly commended as a licenced practitioner. In 2023 Paul was recognised as Business Leader of the Year by the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards for all his hard work in the business. Paul loves rugby and takes any opportunity to upset football fans. His new love is tennis which he now plays regularly. He also loves to unwind with a glass of red with family and friends.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
I am also a professional Jazz Singer

Jade joined the company in April 2018 as our Practice Manager and was promoted to Director in 2023. Jade manages a wide range of tasks throughout the practice. She manages the work schedule to ensure that the team is effectively and efficiently carrying out their assigned tasks and works with closely with Katie at marketing the business, spreading brand awareness and working on the social media. One of her main roles at 1 Accounts is working with Paul in our Business Success Service, helping to support these clients to grow and achieve their goals. When Jade isn’t at 1 Accounts, she is also a professional singer. She graduated in 2016 from the university of Chichester with a BA(Hons) in Music and Musical Theatre. During her time at university, she was appointed the first female director of Chichester’s University Musical Society, a role which helped her develop her organisation and management skills. When Jade is not working at 1 Accounts or performing at weddings, events or pubs, Jade enjoys going to the cinema with her finance and colleague, Josh. They also enjoy going on long walks with their cockapoo Jango and travelling around the world.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
I’m not Jade…

Katie joined the 1 Accounts team in May 2019 to head up the sales and marketing sides of the business. She oversees making sure our clients are happy and is usually the first point of contact for all new business or client enquiries. Hers is usually the welcoming voice you hear on the end of the phone when you call the office! Over the last few years Katie has worked closely with her sister Jade and has been an integral part of helping the family business grow. Previously, Katie has worked in new business roles and as a makeup artist, so she knows client care is key! (She can also do some pretty cool makeup transformations too!) In Katie’s spare time, she loves spending time with her beloved dog, Honey. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family playing boardgames and watching movies.

Whats one thing about you that surprises people?
I collect Vintage Prams

Kerry joined the 1 Accounts family in August 2018 as our bookkeeping manager. She has progressed to managing the payroll for all our clients. She is our payroll guru! Kerry is a fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT) which is the highest level that can be achieved within the AAT. In Kerry’s free time she enjoys spending time with her family. She often travels to the lake district for holidays to enjoy the peace and quiet. She is a keen baker and often brings in sweet treats for the office.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
I play squash

James joined the 1 Accounts family in September 2017 as our first apprentice. He passed his level 4 AAT qualification in November 2021 and has been working as a fully qualified member of our accounts team ever since. Recently, he has started managing one of our Pods, heading up all client work for clients in this Pod. Outside of work James enjoys playing sports, particularly football and golf. He is also a lover of video games. He enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Paulina, and indulging in good food and drink.

Honey: She’s not a cat…
Nala: She’s a Hephalump
Jango: That he loves a cuddle

We love our office dogs at 1 Accounts. We have Honey, who is our client care manager Katie's, dog. Honey is in the office almost daily. She loves all the attention she gets from the team. When she's not asking the team for cuddles, she's sleeping away in the teepee bed (Yes there is a teepee bed in the office, yes that was Pauls choice). She loves joining the team on their Lunch breaks too just in case a scrap or too falls down! Jango is Jade & Josh's dog, he loves to come into the office and say hello to the team. He is Jade's pawsonal assistant when he comes in and likes to check everything is in order. He also loves playing a game of fetch when someone throws the ball for him (Can you word that better please!!) Nala, is Che our bookkeepers pup, she's a regular to the office. Nala loves coming into the office for playtime and snoozing away next to Che's desk. Nala loves saying hello to everyone and playing with the office toys! You will often find Honey and Nala on a late friday afternoon having zoomies to celebrate the end of the week.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
That I used to work on films

Fran joined the 1 Accounts family in September 2019 as an Administration Assistant and has since progressed to managing most of our admin and building needs, including overseeing the onboarding process for all new clients. In 2023 she extended her abilities by becoming qualified as our Mental Health First Aider and our Pet First Aider for the office dogs. She often uses her creative flare within the business by helping to produce photographs for our website and content for our social media and marketing. Before working at 1 Accounts Fran had a completely different career as a visual effects artist. She graduated in 2011 with a BA(Hons) in Media Production and worked on creating effects for film, television, and television commercials. She is also a big lover of animals, especially cats! On her day off from 1 Accounts she volunteers for two different local animal charities.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
I can speak German – although I am very out of practise!

Josh joined 1 Accounts in 2023 as a business growth advisor and is involved with many areas of the business such reviews, VAT returns and much more. As well as this, Josh is our tax specialist and can offer tax planning services. He is particularly interested in R&D tax credits, so would love to hear about any new products or process that you and your company may be developing! Josh graduated in 2016 from the university of Chichester with a BSc(Hons) in Sports Coaching Science and started his work life as a video analyst for Ipswich Town FC and Derbyshire CCC before switching careers and moving into accounting and tax. It was at this university that he met Jade, who is now his fiancée! Outside of 1 Accounts, Josh is still a keen sportsman and spends most of his Saturdays in the summer playing cricket for a local village cricket club. When not on the cricket field, Josh and Jade enjoy going to the cinema, going on long walks with their cockapoo Jango and travelling around the world.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
That I have a collection of Anime and gaming tattoos.

Harry is our newest accounts apprentice, joining the team in January 2022. He has had the goal of becoming an accountant ever since he was in primary school! Recognizing the invaluable opportunity an apprenticeship affords, Harry embarked on this journey to lay the best foundation for his professional aspirations. He is aiming to complete his AAT qualification by the end of 2024. Outside of work, Harry enjoys spending quality time with his friends and family. He is a big fan of anime, marvel movies, and video games, and is developing an impressive collection of tattoos associated with characters from his favourite games and shows.
